TERMS & REQUIREMENTS
Know before you drive.
A practical summary of Cahlbridge’s short rental and monthly lease agreements. Your signed agreement contains the full terms and governs your rental or lease.
01 · DRIVER REQUIREMENTS
Who can drive?
These are the minimum ages in our agreements, unless the lessor or insurer authorises otherwise. All drivers must hold a valid driving licence for at least two years and be authorised on the agreement.
02 · SHORT RENTALS
Days and weeks on island.
No insurance component is included. You are fully responsible for damage and loss of use for the days the vehicle is in the repair shop.
- All rentals have a two-day minimum. The lower daily rate applies for rentals of one week or more. Rental rates and security deposits vary by model; view the current rates.
- Additional authorised driver: US$40 per week.
- Request an extension at least three hours before the agreed return time. Extensions require full payment and a signed extension agreement, and depend on availability.
- Return the vehicle clean and with the fuel level recorded at handover. The short rental agreement lists a US$60 cleaning charge and a US$60 low-fuel charge.
- Early returns are non-refundable.
03 · MONTHLY LEASES
Longer stays, clear arrangements.
- Monthly rates are listed for one-month, three-month and six-month-or-longer leases. Rates and deposits vary by model; view the lease rate table. Contact us for a quote for other lease lengths.
- The deposit and first month’s fee are payable at vehicle handover. Later monthly payments are due on the date in your signed agreement.
- Payments more than seven days overdue are treated as repudiation under the agreement and may result in repossession.
- Additional authorised driver: US$100 per month.
- Return fuel at the handover level, or a US$40 refuelling charge applies. The standard return cleaning charge is also US$40.
- Request extensions at least three days before return, with full payment and a signed extension agreement. A new contract after the third extension is at the lessor’s discretion.
- This is a lease only; it does not transfer ownership or an interest in the vehicle. Early returns are non-refundable.
04 · VEHICLE CARE & RESPONSIBILITY
Take care on every journey.
- Inspect the vehicle at handover and acknowledge existing damage and the accessories supplied. You are responsible for damage during possession and replacing missing or damaged accessories.
- Liability may include repair or replacement, damage to other vehicles or property, licensing, insurance, brokerage and port charges, lost income, and costs exceeding insurance proceeds, as set out in the agreement.
- Report accidents, damage and faults immediately. Stop the engine if it overheats or shows warning signs. Do not arrange repairs or maintenance without authorisation.
- For monthly leases, the agreement requires immediate police contact after an accident. Do not move the vehicle until police attend or instruct you to do so, and notify Cahlbridge.
- You are responsible for fines, tickets and fees; report and pay them immediately.
- Private transportation only. No illegal or reckless use, smoking, illicit drugs, pets or farm animals, wet or soiled seats, driving through seawater or deep water, sitting or jumping on the bonnet or roof, or nudity or indecency.
- The supplied agreements state a maximum of four passengers. Confirm the van’s passenger arrangement with Cahlbridge before booking.
- Heavy soiling, smoke or foul odours may incur cleaning charges of up to US$190.
- Cahlbridge may inspect the vehicle during the agreement; it must be made available within two hours of a request.
05 · RETURNS & BREACHES
Keep us informed.
Extensions are not guaranteed and the original agreement’s terms continue during any approved extension. Return the vehicle at the agreed time and contact us promptly if your plans change.
Unauthorised drivers, prohibited use or other breaches can result in termination and repossession without a refund. Failure to contact Cahlbridge and pay for an extension can also lead to repossession, with repossession costs charged to the driver.
The agreements state that non-payment or failure to return the vehicle without communication may lead to a stolen-vehicle police report eight hours after the agreed return time. The agreements are governed by the laws of Antigua & Barbuda.
06 · ON THE ROAD
Drive Antigua with confidence.
- Drive on the left side of the road.
- Wear your seat belt, use indicators and keep your phone away while driving.
- Obey posted speed limits and road signs. Keep your required licences with you.
- Stay alert, avoid driving when tired and plan unfamiliar journeys with care.
